General Information

At BeeGFS version 7.0 to 7.1.1, the system can loose its information about quota limits on shutdown of the management service. In order to prevent the loss of quota limits, a backup can be created as described below. Note that this procedure must be done as long as the quota information is still available. Otherwise, the lost quota information can NOT be restored. If you plan to upgrade a 6.x version to 7.0 or 7.1.1 (and not 7.1.2), then you should also backup the quota settings before you start the upgrade.

Create a Quota Backup

A Backup of existing quota settings can be created as follows:
$ ./beegfs-backup-quota
and keep the files that have been created in your local directory. For each storage pool a set of 3 files will be generated. E.g. for storage pool 1 these are quota_default_sp1.csv, quota_gid_sp1.csv, quota_uid_sp1.csv.

Restore a Quota Backup

$ ./beegfs-restore-quota
